On a Fly Fishing Tours

When you need to be on a fly fishing tours is where there is a varied number of rivers and streams in one concentrated place. Places like West Yellowstone, Montana or the Klamath River watershed along with the Smith River in California. You need more than the average guide. You need an organization that can provide you with a guide or guides that know each of the waters in the area and can provide transportation and lunch to each venue.

There are well-qualified guides that can cover a varied set of waters but they are often booked up for the season. They have paid their dues and now are reaping the rewards. A greenhorn guide will not put you over the big fish in each of the waters. Although he might know one particular river or stream extremely well, his lack of experience on other waters will result in a poor outing.

The places that can offer a varied choice of guides are fishing lodges. Some good guides work for lodges for the steady stream of customers. Find out how many guides the lodge has available and express your desire to have the best guide for the waters you will be fishing. Another advantage to multiple guides is that each guide has different techniques or time savers that you can pick up every day. Six days, six techniques, seven nights in a comfortable room, six great dinners, it is a king’s life.

On the other hand, what if there are no lodges in the group of rivers or streams you what to fish or the lodges are all booked up for your available dates. Then you are left to find qualified guides on your own. The first place to look is a local fly shop. Many have various guides affiliated with them and it is in the fly shop?s interest for them to be qualified. The fly shop can book the dates and give you the best guide for the water you are fishing, ask about transportation and good places to stay. Next is the Internet. I would like to say that the guide with the best web site is the way to go, but experience has shown that the guide with the most amateurish page often is the best guide. An exception to this is a web site for a group of guides they can take you on an excellent trip. On a fly fishing tours sometimes takes a little work but the rewards are great.
